Know the Uses of Flexible and Rigid Mica Sheets

The most common form of mica used in industries is mica sheets. This is because of the arrangement of its atoms in hexagonal shape in its natural form, which makes it easy for mica crystals to break along smooth planes.



Mica sheets are primarily divided into two types: flexible mica sheets and rigid mica sheets.

Flexible Mica Sheets    

These mica sheets are flexible in form with thickness ranging from 0.10 and 2mm. They are available in different sizes and can be cut into custom shapes depending on the application.

 Common uses of flexible mica sheets include:

Rigid Mica Sheets

These sheets are rigid in form with thickness varying from 0.10mm to 50mm. They are commonly available in square or rectangular forms but can be cut into custom shapes.

 Common uses of rigid mica sheets are:

        In the steel and foundry industry for furnace construction; they provide the right degree of thermal insulation and protection for furnace floors and walls.

        In the framework of a range of consumer appliances such as toasters, hairdryers, and heaters.

        As seals for car engines.
